I did a few minor projects here and there but mostly I've been enjoying the top down weather!
After I did the transmission work I realized I had damaged the drive shaft center support bearing. The car was still drive-able but I could not give the car any torque without the driveshaft trying to escape. So, instead of replacing the center support bearing I got a really fancy one.
The original versus the super fancy one:
You can see the tear in the original bearing. The fancy one uses the center piece from the original. It gets squeezed insde this very large housing. The possible downsides are more NVH and more of a snappy peddle response. Sure, why not. (I didn't notice anything, but over time I convinced myself that of course it's better...because that's what one does after spending a bunch of money.)
I decided to change out my shifter as well. The one I had on there was already beginning to show wear signs. It sat a little low for me and felt unnatural shifting. The shifter was a problem at autocross too. I missed 2nd gear twice because I couldn't grab the shifter! So I got an adapter and I nice sized aluminum ball. To pile one more complaint on it, the diagram on the top of it would randomly rotate and it just bothered the heck out of me.

I was worried the aluminum would get scorching hot in the sun. I was wrong. I love it.
I also didn't spend enough money recently so why not spend more! I bought another treat for myself. A roll bar!

I also went to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit. For those that do not know, for one weekend a year everything is street legal on a specific stretch of road spanning from one city to another. It's 4 lanes wide in both directions. A few hundred thousand people show up to cruise down the road in their cars. You see every kind of car there. The other majority of people line the streets and just hang out like it's a parade. There are food trucks and vendors, etc. So here's a fun thing I came across!
