its a bit over kill really, this tiny speaker peaks at 600Watts, don't think it will ever see anything near it, maybe 150 at most as my ears are not getting any younger=))

Its a nice speaker i brought mine from thomson before sending it back as you say i think them rear allen bolts hold or the runner cover not sure they hold the magnet to the cage never fiddled too much as i need to send it back.
Figured how to power it yet ? I brought an amp for the job but never used it as the H.K one has surficed.
Its looking good have you tried it in the space yet ?

not tried it in the space yet :nailbiting: but as long as I keep within Susan's dimensions I should be ok, I'm watching a few amps on ebay but I'm open to suggestions. I don't think the bolts actually do anything, typical Italian - just there for aesthetics as the magnet under the rubber cover is just plain (Chinese looking) but for the price its quite sturdy (a bit weighty, I once called a girl sturdy, got a shiner thrown in for free, I ended up living with this girl for about 6 years after) don't want to go mad on the amp, maybe 300w max (not peak watts)

The bass face ones are cheap and tiny. The subs rated @300 watt RMS isn't it ?

300 ideally, 100 min 600 peak, I doubt I will use it to its full potential though, but you never know. I need an amp around 300 idealy

box is done, phew. final depth is 94mm, susans was 100mm so im hoping the 6mm left is enough for the driver to move without hitting the cross member:nailbiting: had to remover the rubber mounting ring and mount the driver from the inside, i also had to take out the screws at the back (just as i thought, a half harted attempt to hold the glued on rubber cover) so with rubber and screws removed it still was tight, so i also removed the metal cover on the back and replaced it with a mesh, now it fits great, but will it run ok without the rear part:nailbiting: right, next part is the amp (picking a couple up on Saturday (cheap - £10 each, will sell the one i dont use, one at 250w and the other is 400w both two channel - bridgeable) .

slight shift of direction maybe in order, i listened to a friends 400w sub, too loud. now thinking maybe go lower maybe max 150w, this would also allow me to go smaller on the amp.

What size is his sub though ? Its more about powering the sub correctly than loudly you don't want an amp working very hard to run the sub.
Sound is down to setting and amp gain and a 6.5" sub produces a far different sound to something 10" or bigger.
The Lanzar will produce punchy mid bass i think you will find it fine it fills the space in sound thats missing and you balance it with what you have.
Your on the right path i think...

i have already started on the new box (number 3 now) with the forward projections like the one you have, but in acrylic, didn't bother with corner battens have instead tied the front to the back with two braces inside.
got an 18 inch in the shed, shame i dont have the boot size=))

Did you take height and width from Susans measurements?
I reduced the height so the lid would fit and i tho k the depth to get clearance on the cross member but if your still looking for an internal mount it should be great

its slightly lower that susans in height, but i cant go that much lower as the 6.5 inch driver wont fit=)) depth is the tightest part, susans plans has the outside depth at 100mm, then she added some carpet, not sure if i can go over 100mm so kept within that, would be nice to have even just another 5mm in depth.
the problem with the height is the 6.5 inch driver is 165mm, the same height as susans box. how high was yours?

I cannot remember exactly the box has to sit slightly shallower as the roll hoop frames need clearance.
My sub sits just into the top and is a few mm lower than the base but it has clearance.
I have used the mdf lid in the height so the sub mounts using the lids height too.

You can see the grooves down the base sides to allow for the hoop bolts or it sticks up.

As you have the tools and skills to make this perfectly its a good sale item in my view only place that makes and sells them charges £150 and then you have uk postage on that!

i have included the lid (top) in the height too, so with lid it is just shy of 165mm so hopefully good to go, the problem with making them to sell is i dont have the hoops so i cant get an exact size.

the other difference is im using 5mm acrylic with bracing to the walls so it does give a little more wriggle room
