Funny the things you find in lofts.... i'd have been heard Mrs MK has ears like a hawk at all the wrong moments =))
been having a looksee through your sub box thread (excellent work) now I have a question, as I don't have the oem hoops does that mean I have a larger space to work with?

You can build a bigger box but restriants on speaker and box build remain as the binds are the chassis.
A cheaper option would be this speaker.

If your happy to have them facing up you could use either of these with ease mounting depth is under 3"
The second has a high front profile as i brought this first but it would not fit was just too proud the first one looks alot flatter to face and its only 2.9" mounting so can be forward faced.
You could strip out your cubby box and build a box fit this in the centre and then with the front cubby out you can add a grill.
The cubby box shell looks to be the same part roll hoops or not so the H.K grill would retrofit to the front with out mod i think.

Depends how stealth you want to be with it i suppose and what you want to spend.
Jl Audio do a tiny monoblock amp that would fit behind the glovebox its capable of 300wRms and thats more than enough. Cheapest i can find that though is £129.
Nearly everything will have to go in the boot the battery is there so wiring is easy. Amps are normally shallow so to keep boot space a false floor would be an easy option and you get to keep your boot space and it hides everything.
The first sub rates @150w Rms so any thing thats capable of producing a good enough rating .An amp turned down is better than one wound right up and working hard.
You can again go for a sub amp (monoblock) or a full range amp they usually have crossovers built in to get the right frequency.
You can get them cheaply though sean and they should work fine but as with everything you get what you pay for but saying that have had many amps over the years and speakers and been happy with most.
I opted for the kicker sub because of ease and its not cheap but it really packs a punch for something so small it depend on how you want to fit it you start to get limited with space.

Thanks for the detailed reply mate, I will be putting the sub facing upwards as my trim has the front door and no mesh, I may well take the cd changer out and fit the amp there,

You can remove the front cubby box and replace it with grill the main cubby is standard to all zeds i believe the H.K grill is part number.

ACE, so the trim is the same, this simplifies things somewhat as there are quite a few build threads out there including Susan's who has kindly posted dimensions too.
@Sean d the front box thingy does come out, I tried a while age, you need to slide out the liner then the door simply drops out once you move the stops out of the way. I'm stingy so I will be making my own mesh to go here.

Sean if you have your speaker facing upwards won't that be a problem for your wind break

If it's like Ant's it won't be, you can't see it from the top and he had his wind block on yesterday Steve. It's a real neat job and great sound too. Next time we have a get together you'll have to come up and have a look.

Tony.

@Antm72 is there anyway of using the speaker holes behind the seats as woofer ports from the central woofer box, or is the chassis in the way?

To be honest bass is indirect so you may find no port is needed the sound will still be there,no different to it being in a boot.
The box i made is sealed so no port at all its more about air being able to move as it would create vibration in the cubby box plastics.
You could port / use the grills to get the sound / air out , it would be an experiment to see but there is no reason why they can not be utilized.
