LIGHTS OUT!

Smooth sailing for Lewis Hamilton as he gets away cleanly and holds the lead into the first corner BUT Sebastian Vettel has got the jump on Valtteri Bottas.

'Pretty boring'

Lewis Hamilton wins the Spanish Grand Prix

Daniel Ricciardo, who finished fifth, said: "It was a bit tricky to drive, it was fast when you could put it together but it was easy to make mistakes."

"If you got lucky you could put in a blistering lap - one out of five I could make it happen, the others I was trying to just stay on. At the beginning I felt we were hanging on. In the VSC (virtual safety car) I had a spin on the restart, fortunately there were no walls."

"There were signs of good pace, but it was a pretty boring race."
 
Fernando Alonso had got his wish... just one hour later than he would have liked. The rain had finally arrived.
 
Race summary
Lewis Hamilton won for the second race in succession by dominating an eventful Spanish Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver was supreme at the front in a race that featured a heavy first-lap crash, two caution periods and a number of spins and collisions.

Hamilton's win moves him into a 17-point championship lead, with title rival Sebastian Vettel fourth on Sunday following questionable strategy calls from his Ferrari team.

Valtteri Bottas made it a Mercedes one-two ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
