Brilliant race.
That Zhou crash though looked horrific from all the angles we saw on tv yesterday and it's a miracle he walked away unscathed.
Here is a YouTube video taken from the crowd right where his car hit the fence. You didn't get the full impression of how close this was not just a potential driver tragedy but much worse. A vey long time since an F1 car has gone into the crowd but this was incredibly close.
Zhou crash from the stands!
Many tracks no longer use gravel to arrest the progression of wayward cars. The gravel here was directly responsible for the severity of the crash and made worse by the gap between the tyre wall and the fence behind. The halo, having done it's job was then compromised by the gravel, digging in and then throwing the car skywards rolling it into the tyre wall rather than sliding in to it. Many learning points.
There was an F2 race that had a massive accident too caused by the curbs saved entirely again by the halo.
