You do have a point there, no car to car, or car to barrier contact at all. Only 2 retirements, LeClerc dns, and and Bottas with a knackered wheel nut. Still a good race, but who was on the ragged edge?
 
Did anyone do any overtaking? Appreciate Monaco is special but that wasn't a race. Good point made by Coulthard to Sainz, he didn't even brake sweat?

Yep cant imagine Senna, Mansell or Schumacher Snr happily sitting behind Mad Max without chasing him down and having a sniff. ....... ahhhh the nostalgia ...... :whistle: :whistle: =))

Ditch the race! Prime example of doing something just because they always have. Its not fit for purpose in the modern era.

Harsh, but possibly true.

Every racing fan loves the flamboyance of Monte Carlo, but as a racing circuit goes, it hasn't had to keep up with the updated safety standards and widening that most other "traditional" circuits have had to accommodate to keep up with the modern machinery. With how quickly the cars accelerate and brake now mixed with the narrowness of the street circuit the opportunity to overtake is impossible unless both cars end up in the barriers.

I will be sad if Monaco goes, but the only spectacle there now is the yachts in the marina. We've had 4 great races so far this season, the 5th at Monaco has ended that.

I will be surprised if they can make enough meaningful changes there to allow the cars to "race" in the future.

When the most exciting part of a race is cause by a wheel nut failure it's very sad. Thankfully, only get highlights these days.:bored:
 
The reason Monaco will stay, £26,000 for a weekend at one hotel looking onto the track :wideyed:
