F1 Zorg & Badger GP Fantasy Grand Prix 2017

This is more encouraging for Mercedes, though.

Valtteri Bottas, running the team's aerodynamic upgrade, goes third quickest with 1:33.094, cutting the gap to Ferrari down to four tenths.

And even more encouraging is that Lewis Hamilton goes quickest of all! The Briton does a 1:32.650, 0.015s quicker than Kimi Raikkonen.

Hamilton is running the old aero package.

If it ain't broke...

And this is why F1 is the King of sports (in my view), it's just not about the driver doing it on the day, technology, strategy, tactics, bad luck, good luck all come into play.

Oh, shame :D

'It is perfect on my birthday'

Max Verstappen, who qualified third: "It is good for us in qualifying to be in this position. It is a lot of fun. It's also amazing how passionate the crowd are."

"On my birthday it is perfect to be here and in this position."

"I don't want to be sandwiched!"

A cheeky reference to Max getting caught up in a clash with the two Ferraris on the first lap in Singapore.

Tomorrow promises to be a fascinating race.
Race starts at 08:00 BST.

And the prospect of a bit of this...

A fitting farewell?
In a few hours, the chequered flag will be waved for the final time at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
But with one title contender at the front of the grid and the other at the back, it's all set to be something of a memorable send off.

As if having our two title protagonists starting at the opposite ends of the grid isn't interesting enough, it's also raining.
