Original owner of a 99 M Roadster, garage queen, with 21K miles. Cosmo black paint is in great condition with clear coat intact. Have used Zaino products since new. Getting a new Robbins top soon because of the plastic bead breaking around the rear window. Was quoted between 1500 and 2000 for xpel ceramic coating by a high end shop who promises to be gentle on the clear coat when doing paint correction. Have any forum members had ceramic coating performed? Does it make a huge difference on a vintage car? Is this overkill? I have had it done on other cars, but only when new. Thanks for your advice.

Greg.

Hey, I do this on all my cars. The prices are outrageous—it’s not worth that much—but people are willing to pay. The product costs around 130–160 € for two cars. People are afraid to install it because if it’s done poorly, it’s a hassle—that’s why it’s so expensive—but I pay a maximum of 750 €.
