Obviously we have plenty of them, with our choice of car. Although some tools are go too for just about anything. I have one or two I cant be without. Non Z or Z specific, it doesn't matter, you may help someone by having something different. This should be fun and maybe educational for some..

Example, who knew about these. I didn't until a few years ago, they look like vice grips and indeed they are , but they are fundamentally different, and one of my goto tools.

The most useful tools I have are tools that allow me to make other tools.

Everyone who does DIY mechanicking should have access to a vice, files and a saw. You can make a lot using these tools and some scrap metal.

More serious (and expensive) is lathe, milling machine and welding equipment, but they just make the job easier and quicker.

My toolbox is ordered in a top down methodology.
Up the top there is a code reader and multi-tester and other touchy feely tools and equipment.
Next draws down an assortment of small screw drivers torx wrenches and allen keys,
below that, 14" drive socket set and assorted adapters and small adjustable wrenches, and bigger screw drivers.
Next draw down 3/8 drive socket set and 6 and 8 inch adjustable wrences, pliers and the like.
Next draw down, open end and ring spanners, 1/2 inch drive socket set and breaker bars, 10 to 16 inch adjustable wrenches
Next draw down, Hacksaw, chisels, snips, side cutters, end cutters, prying and breaking tools, hammers, vice grips etc.
At the bottom, a cabinet with 4 and 5 inch angle grinders and consumables, crow bars, and hammers of thuggery.
At the side of my toolbox is a trolley jack and four axle stands, because if Ive exhausted the draws and the cabinet below, and it still doesn't work. Then it doesn't need any wheels does it ?...
On the other side of the toolbox is a fridge with beers in it, satisfyingly an accurate gauge as to how the job went.

I got this small long nose mole grip years ago in a load of tools I bought off T-Tony, you would not believe how many times this has saved me.

I had a set of those once designed the same way as the grips I mentioned earlier in the thread, someone liked them more than I did. :( they were a bit counter intuitive to use, but brilliant for set and forget. The same bite force either closed or wide open, but the bite force is adjustable via the screw and not dependent on the size of the obstinate object your biting..

The original was invented and made by a company called a Mole in Newport, South Wales UK. Not surprisingly known as a Mole grip over here. My dad had one, and cherished it as the most expensive tool he’d ever bought. My brother still has it. The quality of the workmanship and materials is so much better than the cheap copies you get today. It’s just so sturdy

I have a number of things for specific jobs but my go specialist tool would be my bolt extractor sockets ( spiral cut sockets) i have a couple of different sets of these they take all sorts of things off worn exhaust bolts , corroded brake pipe ends etc great tool.
