Greetings. I’m in the market for new tires. I’m going with summer only, because I don’t take the z out in winter. What are some popular tires that you might be running? Thanks in advance.

Tyres you mean 😉🤣. Uniroyal rainsports..which despite the name are summer tyres. Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Lots of people in the UK run Avon ZV7 but not sure they are available in the US

If you have staggered 17" alloy
You'll be running 225/45/17 & 245/40/17
The front size is common so many brands its the rears a lot less options so if your looking at a set and size is correct then look at the rears first then match the fronts to them.

In the Uk a few run Hankook tyres Continental and Michelin both do rears so set of them would also be out there not sure what sort of stuff you can get in the US.

Stephen.

Avon's ZV7 or Faulken (lower DB than the Avon's) are also very good (especially the Ecorun). Depends on how spirited you like to drive either is good enough IMO. both also have gr8 Aqua properties.

OP is a US member, so the compounds on offer will be different.

But I’d just put your tire size into Tirerack and filter for ‘max/high performance summer’ tires…and get something from one of the big brands….like Continental ExtremeContact, Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 6, or Michelin Pilot 4S, etc.

If you want something more sporty, then filter for ‘extreme performance’ instead.

The English language! Great that we have American and UK spellings on here , we can all understand that 'tyres' and 'tires' mean the same thing, as with 'colour' and 'color'. It's other strange things about English that confuse non English speaking nations. How does 'know' sound the same as 'no' or how does something that is pronounced 'newmoania' start with the letter 'p' ? Odd!:D

Ran Michelin Pilots for years on the Zeds, but tried Uniroyal Rainsport this time.

Have you had a chance to compare yet? I'd be interested to hear what you think
I'll go back to Pilots next time, touch better grip in the wet in the e89 which is arse heavy with the roof stowed, had some twitching with the Rainsports that I never got with the pilots. I always used Pilots on my M which had more HP and found them excellent. Though @bertiejaffa has the Rainsports on his M and he's not adverse to throwing that around so......🤷‍♂️

I don't know what you mean

I always had Pirelli before these, they were fine in the main but did allow for a bit more "controlled" sliding, the rainsports for me have less "give" when booting it round the twisties.
