This has been an epic trip Paul. I've really enjoyed reading your and Mandy's exploits, it's been brilliant.
After our trip to Norway and this year's to [mainly] France I agree with lots of your summary. Especially about finding somewhere to eat out every night.

We got laundry done in barga. The breakfast cook in the hotel had a sideline in hotel laundry. 25 euro , it was very reasonable.

£2.30 for Spain
Considering we travelled the length of France and went back in again after leaving Italy I am not complaining. At least the roads were far better than the crap we drive in.

Anything that you need to know for your trip to Switzerland let me know. What I do know is you need a vignette for Switzerland that's costs about 40 euros and can be bought at the border or most petrol stations near the border.

Actually you only need a vignette if you use the Swiss motorways. We didn't this year so did not buy one

'A Swiss vignette is a mandatory road document that should be purchased by all drivers using the Swiss motorways and certain sections of roads subject to tolls. The Swiss vignette requirement covers all motor vehicles and trailers whose GVW does not exceed 3.5t.'

As we were in no rush this year we decided to use the ordinary toll free roads in Switzerland. I planned all our routes before we arrived. Yes it takes a lot longer but we had plenty of time so there was more time to enjoy the scenery.
