New to BMW

Hi all. I've purchased and restored a 1974 TR6, a 1981 Alfa Romeo Spider, and I recently finished a 1972 Jaguar E Type V12. My next victim is likely to be a 2002 Z3 3.0, which will round out my tour of Europe. I've never dug my mitts into a German car, nor one of such late vintage. I've been an analog guy since I made my living turning wrenches in the 1970. But I'm studying as much as I can, learning about OBD and the like. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for you folks.

Analog to Digital bit of a step up so get yourself armed with a decent code reader ready for the BMW I have a Creator 310 but their latest is a Creator 410 model, both BMW specific for the BMW range of models. I also have a Launch tablet scanner which can do some coding but your into £200 upwards for one of those and a yearly licence after the 2 years free updates expire. Others also use the Foxwell range of scanners and get along with them ok. You will be alright on the spanners but the electronics on BMW show their age and we see a lot of failing modules as the cars get older, a scanner is a must to point you in the right direction for a fix.
