Good price TBH considering the money that has been spent. Panel gaps and shut lines look pretty good from the photos.
Personally I don't think you have a cat-in-hell's chance of selling it on here, but you never know.

Agreed. It looks a good price for the amount of work that's gone in to it.

Would anyone buy it? If I wanted a kalifornia and didn't want the hassle of spannering the panels off a donor and the on, off, on, off (and repeat) fitting ill-fitting GRP panels for hours, nay days, then the flatting and sanding and fiddling with panel gaps and painting then, personally, I reckon that £18K gets you comfortably over all that pain and regret and into a place where there's still a ton (or more) of work to do but more fun.

So yes. if I was the guy in the previous paragraph, I'd snap it up at that price - But I'm not him so I wouldn't. Because I'm not doing a rebody so that I can show it off or be seen in it. I'm doing mine because I just enjoy the build - which is why it's taking so long.

Don't get me wrong; many model specific forums are a great place to flog cars (I have sold a few on forums), but this is pre-dominantly a Z3 'fan boy' forum. Many think the idea of 'ruining' a Z3 is sacrilege. Obviously I am not in that camp!

But it can't hurt.

I would need to remove all those Ferrari badges as it is not a Ferrari; its a BMW with a new dress.

out of curiosity, would a real 250 gt ever have had a red soft top?
For the money the real ones cost, I would hope you could have ordered whatever colour soft top you like.

I think you are missing the point.

i think the point is its a tribute to the real thing, so for me id keep the badges, lets face it, if you choose to remove badges as its (obviously) not a ferrari, you may as well remove the wings, the boot the bonnet, as they are not ferrari either, just a tribute to one.

In all honesty, the more i look at it, i appreciate the work involved, and yes i probably would have it, but id want to try remove the bmw ness like the red soft top, and the red interior, it needed to be beige IMO with that grey boidy.
id lower it too, and have skinnier tyres on those wheels, more traditional look, and i would have to change those rear lights and put something that looks more like original.
but thats my opinion.

i do like it though

There is an irony that the only genuine parts of my car are the badges! =))

They cost a fortune.

Personally I don't mind the Red Roof. But then I'm biased because I too have a red roof.

But then I also have BMW badges so, hopefully, the 'Bolex' police won't flame me.

If that is the point, put a little "Tribute" badge by the Ferrari badges. Otherwise it purports to be something its not.

I can only speak for myself and my car but I wanted to build an authentic replica (as far as is possible), not a tribute or a 'something close-ish'.
The badges, as far as I am concerned, are a fundamental part of the replication. Mine would look rather stupid with BMW roundels all over it and would defeat the point of doing it at all. I have seen cars like mine with 'other badges' on them and for me they look wrong.
I am not pretending my car is an original at all; just for it to look as close to real as possible. Therefore the badges are necessary IMO.

. .
I would .
. .
But then, if I wanted a California (with a 'C') then I would not buy it because it's not a California look-a-like. This is more like a mash up of 250 GT Berlinetta without a roof. Did ferrari make anything like that?

But, personally, I prefer the shape of this one. The 'stand-up-in-front' headlights have a kinda more 1950's "what is it" kinda look to it.

On Pond's car I'd keep the badges. On this one I'd ditch them. It's a good looking shape and I'd like to keep people guessing

No. It is a Tribute Automotive/ Nubodi (who have disappeared) mash up so as not to get into trouble with anyone from a certain European manufacturer.
Classic Coachworks are selling the same bodykit as an "Isabella" now. Presumably made by Tribute.
