Date published: May 9 2018

Some news from yesterday -

Formula 1 has received "preliminary approval" from Miami for a Grand Prix to be held in the city from next year.

Miami's city officials voted unanimously on Thursday to enter formal negotiations with F1.

If the event comes off, it would be the first street race in the United States since a Grand Prix in Phoenix, Arizona in 1991.

The Miami event would be the second F1 race in the US, in addition to the Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

There has been 2 US races for a few years in Texas and Indianapolis?

Tony.

Hungarian Grand Prix: Force India to compete in Hungary despite administration.
Force India will compete in the remainder of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend after being placed into administration on Friday.

In a note addressed to "friends", and seen by BBC Sport, team co-owner Vijay Mallya said court action was instigated by Force India driver Sergio Perez.

Mallya said the team's operating company was the largest creditor, with debts owing of more than £159m.

He said he would work to secure the team's future with the administrator.

This could mean selling the team to new owners. There are said to be at least three potential buyers considering a purchase of the Silverstone-based outfit.

Drivers suing for unpaid wages, sponsors claiming monies given were loans. Sounds a right sorry state of affairs.

Personally, I find that a strange decision. Purely for the money or does he think he's going to end up like Alonso has been at McLaren when Red Bull get Honda engines?
