Following recent comments re meet ups/events, together with some people may be wanting to SORN their cars AND the weather looks good for Derbyshire on Thursday (22nd Oct), we (Jo and Brendan) are heading for lunch at the Cupola:

We have booked our table for 1300hrs so if any like minded Zedders fancy a meet up + tootle around...maybe after a coffee somewhere , then lunch ....or simply come for lunch meet up ...then you are more than welcome.:)

I know this is very little notice but it's just getting a few more drives in before the really bad weather sets in.

If you are intending to have lunch please book directly with the Cupola restaurant.

If someone knows a nice route around the peaks that we can fit in then please advise - it's totally informal but as I say it's just an excuse to get out and about and to enjoy !

Great idea and I'd fancy that but will likely to struggle to make it on Thursday but if that changes I'll see you at Cupola.

However, if you turn left out of Cupola and follow the A623 to Sparrowpit and take a hard left the road between Sparrowpit and Winnats Pass is a great run. You could then drive down Winnats Pass to Castleton and through Hope towards The Yorkshire Bridge Inn taking Hope Road past the Bike & Boot Hotel before turning left on to Thornhill Lane. It's an easy left to miss but you can always take the next left at the traffic lights on Station Road and go through Bamford.

However, if you make Thornhill Lane follow it to Carr Lane and then over the bridge on Lydgate Lane, once you reach the junction with the A6013 turn left then immediately right on to New Road the views over the Hope Valley when you hit the peak are stunning and there are plenty of places to pull over.

Then just keep going on New Road on to Long Causeway and past Dennis Knoll Car Park, eventually you will drive past Hollin Bank Public Toilets. Turn left at the next junction toward Stanage Edge and you will eventually turn left on to The Dale, again great views when you hit the peak before you hit the junction with Ringinglow Road. From there you can turn left and loop back round to Hathersage.

Would have joined you, but busy on Thursday. Pity, but you're right, we have to take advantage of any nice days if possible. Winter's on it's way! Have a good day out.

Would love to join you too Brendan. Unfortunately, having just had a weekend up on Andy's run in the Dales and Lakes we need to crack on with our walking challenge. Thursday looks the best day this week too. Hopefully we can make it work another time.
