My door is making crunching noises when opening. I can see the top hinge is wobbly and not tight.
Anything I can do myself or is this a “must remove body panels” extensive body shop kinda repair?

Can't see the top hinge in the picture. Can you get a better picture of the top hinge?

If you're concerned about that thing in the middle of your picture that slides in and out of the pillar when the door opens and closes then that isn't the hinge. It can scrape though and make a noise so put a bit of grease along the front and rear edges of it.

Two bolts door side of check strap and the pin on the a pillar will get it out to see what's worn or broken, if it needs replacement ask @spurs fan in a coupe on here if he has a replacement from one of his breakers.

Is it somewhere deep inside the body panel and hard to access and replace?

Does it need to be fixed? I don't mind it cracking as long as the door doesn't fall off.
The door won't fall off as long at both hinges are secure. As said, the part in your video is just to stop the door from opening too far really.
If the clicking is moving the door at all, though, it could wear the hinge pins. Then you will have a problem.

At the front on the pillar by that rubber grommet there's a pin that can be removed - circlip underneath. That disconnects it from the pillar.

Then on the front edge of the door you have two screws that hold it in. It's easy to get out if necessary

This is what it looks like.

Ignore the screws and shiny nuts and washers in my picture - yours won't have them there - I've modified my mine. Your screws are outside on the front edge of the door.

There's actually not much to it. if yours is broken then you should be able to buy one from one of our site breakers.

There's videos on YT showing how to remove it.

Ok thank you. I don't intend to use the car too often, maybe several times a month, during warm months. I hope the door pin lasts me a few years with low usage. If it starts getting much worse I'll deal with it.

Just check that the screws are tight. When the door is wide open you can see the screws where that brass coloured bar goes into the front of the door. Then smear a bit of grease on the front edge of the bar. Might quieten it down a bit. But, in any case, the door isn't going to fall off.
