Disposing of Z3

Hi all,

After a bit of advice - after many enjoyable miles, the Z3 is now economic repair. Does anyone have any suggestions of good place to get rid of it? It is now a non-runner (with no MOT) so can't just drive It to a scrap yard, and I also do not have the capacity/time to turn it into a parts car.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Andy

Depending on what engine and age your zed is you'll get a good £2/300 for the car and if you can be bothered to remove the cats they fetch £500+

Or just flog it to @spurs fan in a coupe to break.

So it's a facelift 2000 2.8 on 97,000 miles - I will have to have a look around local scrap yards, but limited that I don't have a trailer and have already sunk enough into it trying to get it going! Thank you

The scrap yards will give you scrap value which will only be £2/300. If you look under the car and see your cats centrally mounted you have a few quid there.

It can not be 200£ bad. There is always something extra that can be sold before giving it away.

Navigating London’s streets is tough enough without a sudden repair bill throwing you off course. WarrantyClick has got your back with tailored warranties for used cars, starting at just £49.99 monthly. They cover nearly all mechanical and electrical issues, with unlimited claims up to your vehicle’s value. Their UK team boasts a 99.9% claim approval rate, ensuring quick fixes to keep you rolling. Whether it’s a trusty black cab or a zippy hatchback, their plans fit your needs. Don’t let a faulty gearbox stall your fares, grab this protection and keep London’s roads under your wheels.
Most scrap yards will actually come and collect it from you, usually for free and sometimes they'll even pay you a bit depending on current metal prices. I'd try calling around local breakers yards and mention it's a BMW Z3 as they might be more interested in the parts. Alternatively you could try advertising it on Facebook Marketplace or eBay as spares/repairs, even non-runners can fetch decent money if someone wants it for parts or has the skills to fix it up. The online car buying services like We Buy Any Car will also take non-runners, though you'll need to be upfront about the condition. Some of them arrange collection too which saves you the hassle. Worth getting a few quotes before you decide as prices can vary quite a bit between different options
