Ever drained a 60 year old Triumph?

No. But I did spend a lot of time once flushing and reflushing an MGA, so I may have seen enough cruddy water to last me the rest of my time.

I had similar issues with Minis and 1100s.

When you remove the thermostat housing and it's like this.... and then the metal pipe shears before the hose comes off, and it's totally blocked solid... that's a lack of servicing! No antifreeze at all, just plain water. (1969 Herald 1360) This one failed MOT so badly it was prohibited from use on the public road, so the owner just drove it anyway for two years more.
