I have inherited both a solid perspex and OEM mesh wind deflector with my 2.8 although the OEM has a clip thingy bit missing, see photos

. So before I start getting excited about repairing the broken mesh deflector, are they any good? Which is best functionality, solid perspex or mesh? Any thoughts, experience.

Ade.

I haven't used a perspex one so can't compare, but I love my mesh one. Words cannot describe how effective they are.

I'd worry about the perspex ones for how easy to fit/remove/bypass they are - e.g. do you have to fully remove it to access behind the seats? That would be a pain if you just wanted to toss a coat or some shopping back there. With the mesh one it's just a zip and a velcro tab

Another vote for the mesh here. I wouldn’t worry too much about the broken bit. I had mine on for ages without in being fixed down.

Yes, a pain to access behind the seats - you can't get good access unless the screen is removed or the roof is down. And when the roof is down, behind the seats is full of roof..... 🤔😆👍

Mesh is very effective and easy to drop when necessary.

Used both, mesh works a lot better.

Standard mesh for the Z3 s and E85 I had worked better plus I found that no matter how much I tightened the straps on other types, they rattled.

Okay, because the OEM wind deflector is as effective as everyone says, I've picked one up and will give it a whirl. Must admit, it looks much better 👍
