Blimey, that's rough! Any cctv of the driver, did the police look into it? Get well soon. 🤞
i never went to police, it was late, dark, and about 100yards from home, i was in too much pain, i just got friend to abandon my bike in my yard and then hospital, and i didnt call police while laid up... its too late now, its happened, no way you i even describe the colour or anything..

no cctv at all in area, not even any houses my mrs went looking.

hey ho.

Feel your pain. I still have a Pohl Nail in my right tib from 1985. All I can say is, time does heal. Strength and good luck . . .
thanks buddy appreciated, i had a 30degree rotation of the lower part of the break which the nail wouldn't accomplish well enough so they added a plate and screwed that up, i got a bionic leg now hahah

how did you do yours?

It was in South Africa where I grew up, had a Suzuki GSX1100. Got pushed the other side the road and hit a Toyota Corolla going in the opposite direction. A Roads there have 120kmh speed limits outside urban areas, so combined speed of 240kmh (150mph).

3 months in hospital, 2 years on crutches, various skin and bone grafts and a muscle flap (my calf muscle is what is now covering the front of my right shin).

Still. Lesson learned. If a Toyota Corolla can't kill me nothing can . . .

illegitimi non carborundum - good luck with your recovery. It takes time but does heal . . .

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

It doesn't compare but a few years ago I was knocked off my bike (bicycle). Their nearside wing mirror hit my right upper arm and sent me cartwheeling into the verge before I knew anything about it. My whole upper arm went black through bruising and my knee got messed up where I landed, but all soft tissue damage, no breaks thankfully. It knocked their wing mirror clean off, but they just carried on on their way

The police were absolutely hopeless. Despite me having a broken wing mirror with a Jeep part number, a witness testimony that said it was a Jeep Cherokee and even (low quality) dashcam footage from the car behind, the PC assigned to my case took one look at the footage on my phone and said "no it doesn't look that big to me, looks like a Ford Focus", and implied the broken wing mirror a few yards further up the road from where I landed could have been there from an earlier incident. As far as I know they never even check CCTV. My wife and I went on a vigilante mission a few days later, watching that road for any Jeeps missing a wing mirror around the same time of day, asking local businesses for any CCTV and for local garages to tell the police if anyone asked for a new wing mirror for a Jeep Cherokee. Nothing ever came of it :-(

Hopefully karma deals with these cowards who hit us, and any other people vile enough to hit a person with their car and not stop.

Feel your pain ( or have done in younger years)
In my early 20's misjudged a corner on my gsx750 didn't end well several broken bones , concussion and a ton of bruising still here to tell the tale. ( think the worst of all the things i done that day was the 2 broken and 3 fractured ribs not a pleasant experience)
All i can say is im 55 now i would not want to do the same at this age as reckon recovery would be much slower and way more painful.
Wishing you a speedy and full recovery.
So is that the helmet go pro on the Christmas list now

Stephen.

Thank you:thankyou:
ironic, thats the bike i was on, and im 56yrs old... o_O:hellsangels:

iv not (unable to) even look at the damage, hopefully minimal, but i ride year in year out all weathers as i use it for work, this was my 2nd incident in many many years so with the 1000s of miles i do i feel somewhat lucky, but its the recovery now im not looking forward to.

again ironic, about a month ago i cracked a rib and broke a small toe while doing jiu jitsiu. so i know that pain of inability to breath with rib damage, i was supposed to be competing at a IBJJF tournament in Sheffield last Saturday.. and again at another event in leeds this coming saturday.
Its all gone downhill fast...

helmet cam... always thought they bring a vibe of bad luck to the table.

I thought I was going to see pictures of a Z3 with an engine in bits….. but scrolled down to see pictures of xrays……I nearly passed out =)) =)) =))…….( I faint having blood tests )
I gave up riding my 1300 Pan European when I decided my luck was running out …..luckily before anything serious happened

Cars just dont see bikes no matter how much reflective gear you wear and reflective stickers you have on the bike.

Wonder if any cars had dashcams and caught it on camera???

I hope its a speedy recovery.

Well its no driving or walking, or pretty much anything for me for around 3 months...

Got knocked off my motorbike 12 days ago whilst stationary at traffic lights turning left.

A TW@T in a audi A3 size car flew up alongside me on a right turn filter and decided to do a racing line and dismissed i was there, glanced me knocking me off, and the TW@T drove off at high speed....

so spiral break in left tibia, had rod and a 6'' plate screwed to twist it back into place, cant put any weight on at all, and 7 days in a hospital wasnt fun on a trauma ward i can tell you.

Im as miserable as hell with this, so if anyone has been in this position will testify, you cant do normal things, cant get upstairs, cant bath, cant carry rubbish to the bin, sleeping on the lounge floor, blah blah

but worst of all i had just bought myself a pick up truck ....and i chose manual .....arghhhh

anyhoooo heres the break. View attachment 350981View attachment 350981View attachment 350981

Oh my goodness!!! The x-rays!!! You must be gritting your teeth in agony and boredom. Drivers just don’t see cyclists and that’s no excuse. These newer cars virtually drive themselves and leave true driving to us enthusiasts. This, plus you have to second guess what every other driver is doing on the roads as oftentimes they fail to indicate, just pull out in front of you, cut across your right of way, suddenly brake, etc. etc. I do wonder how many have passed their tests, if at all.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and you are always welcome to post on here if the boredom of bed rest becomes too great. You’ll always find someone to chat with.
