Hi all,

Long-time lurker, first time posting. Now that I've owned by 1998 2.8 for approaching 10 months, I thought it was high time I set up an account on here.

Honestly, I purchased my Z3 as a bit of a stop-gap car after I had to reject my previous toy (an Audi TT-RS) owing to undisclosed crash damage. I'd initially decided to replace the RS with something much more expensive, but given that I'm trying to buy my next house this year, my sensible brain (or, more honestly, my mortgage advisor) took over - and I decided to buy something a little cheaper. In truth, I'm glad I pulled the trigger on a Z3 - despite its age certainly now showing during daily driver duties, I haven't had this much raw fun driving a car in years! It may not be the sharpest or the quickest, but it manages to put a smile on my face every time I drive it.

My particular Z3 (see photo beneath) is a PFL 2.8 with c.74k on the clock, and had just been fully recommissioned before I purchased her last year. It's no spring chicken (having recently celebrated its 27th birthday), and despite the restoration work it'd had only 12 months ago, it already owes me more than its worth in preventative/not-so-preventative maintenance alone. I've fully man-maths'ed these costs in my head by telling myself I now have a fully-sorted, appreciating (ish), modern classic for about the same price as a ropey Gen-1 Porsche Cayman...

As always seems to be the case, I now have a catalogue of upgrades jotted down on my phone that I want to carry out over the next year or so. I'll try to keep a journal of these upgrades here as I go along for folks' delight and delectation. For what it's worth, I'm based between South Wales and SW England - would love to tag along to any local-ish events (weather depending, of course).

Thanks all,
M :)
