Eventually got round to doing the interior of my 2.2.
Lotus White is a great colour for a garage queen, but it's a very impractical colour for the amout I drive her.

Anyway, I re-coloured both seats and the parking brake and gear lever gaitors removed from the car but did the roll hoops and door cards in situ.
The 'before' photos show how bad they were, then many hours spent cleaning and colouring, 3 coats on everything and I'm very, very pleased with the end result. They look like new:thumbsup:

Looking great, Dave. What did you use: Furniture Clinic products?

The coloured hoops set it off well, only seen that once before. That was at a Duxford meet where a forum member had his hoops and seats retrimmed in blue leather - looked well.
Pauline will have to wash your clothes more often now ;)

Hoops were like that from the factory, I've never seen any others like them.

I'll tell Pauline for you;)

Did you do all that by sponge or did you spray the final coat?
I couldn't get on with a sponge, especially in the little nooks and crannies. I resorted to a small paintbrush for all the coats. ;)

No Stephen unfortunately not. The Lotus White they originally sent was a match for a 2010 [and onwards] car, and it was close but a bit too grey. Mine being a 2002 was a different colour, more creamy. I had great service from them with numerous emails and photos and they sent me some samples of what looked like a better match and I chose the nearest one.

Looks really nice.

I had same issue when enquired about dye for Orinoco ( seats bespoke colour) but i have since managed to aquire a sample leather piece ( from a damaged doorcards) from which i will be able to get a custom colour match dye this years winter project i think.

That looks an excellent job, Dave.
I know from experience that re-colouring/ restoring interiors is not as easy as it sounds. It takes a lot of prep and attention to detail, otherwise it can just look a bit.....DIY bodge.

Yes it certainly took a lot of time Andy, as you say the prep is the hard part. Lots of work for not much progress, however once you start getting the colour on it's much better. Although there was a fair bit of waiting involved as I had to wait a hour for the leather prep and alcohol cleaner to dry/evaporate then 4 hours for the first coat to dry. All worth it in the end though:thumbsup:
