M44 Gearbox issue - Breaker needed

Hi all.

I have had the car for an MOT and in addition to a leak, the gearbox has a knock. This is when the car is in neutral and the clutch depressed.

It's pretty loud at this point and they have said that I will need a new gearbox (I trust these guys a lot so I don't think they are trying to put one over on me). The issue was not there last year.

The question therefore is whether anyone knows of any reliable breakers in the North East of England (or who delivers) that I can contact to source a replacement in good condition.

In addition, can anyone suggest other things I may need to buy or may want to try and do before it gets installed? Eg, gaskets, mounts, replace any seals etc.

That's more like a clutch problem. With the clutch pedal down the gears aren't doing anything.

I was thinking this, maybe the clutch release bearing, but the guy seems insistent the issue was the main shaft. I had this on a mini once though and after paying for a new clutch and kit, I still ended up needing a new gearbox.

I had a dual mass flywheel that wore out in an old Ford. It made a racket when the clutch was depressed as the springs were shot and it wobbled back and forth instead of taking up the vibrations.
