I can't see that this has been asked before, but can the passenger airbag be turned off on my December 2000 Z3? We now have a puppy which we wish to fasten to my wifes seatbelt and transport on her knee, but obviously the airbag is a danger.

Not sure if the passenger occupancy sensor makes the seat appear occupied or unoccupied so in theory off. Not sure what way it works but a faulty sensor causes the light to light so i imagine it makes the ecu think its un occupied ?
There is no turn off its triggered by the sensor.

There is a by pass to keep the light out if the sensor fails but as said may be an always on or an always off.
